Site Find: Community Fan Fiction Website

Read about the community fan fiction site I happened across. You can read the stories, leave comments, or join and add your own creative works.

Happy New Year!! Today is January 1st, 2011 (or 1/1/11). I’m hoping for a great year and I’m doing my part to make it be so.

I’m starting a fun new venture here! To entertain myself and friends, I enjoy making up stories, scenarios, just letting my imagination freely devour a memory. To bring it to life with verve, I’m starting this page as a place to present some of my prose fiction.

My first official act is two parts: first, to create this FICTION page. Second part is to demote the NANOWRIMO pages to posts, and list their links here. It’s not that I don’t appreciate the efforts I made. I do—really. These writing experiences taught me great lessons, namely that I need to go a different route if I plan to arrive at any measure of success in fiction writing.

I use the term success so loosely that it covers just finishing a bona fide manuscript, no matter how short it might be. For me there’s nothing just about that.

Inspired to Try

Reading fiction, watching it on TV, and making things up is pretty much the extent of what I’ve done. I attempted to write 2 times with NaNoWriMo. And I have countless drafts that I’ve written over the years, although most are incomplete.

Since joining She Writes, I have been considering stepping up my creative effort. Short stories have intrigued and engaged me for many years. And, since I have this great personal venue, it only makes sense for me to give it a shot. I read a lot of what writers (including “She Writes” writers) go through, when they share online. And I want to join the party.

She Writes is a writers hub; I may have mentioned it before. It’s a community site where writers share their writing, activities, ideas, generate and join groups related to their interests.

I joined only a few months ago and I’ve not participated much there. But what I have done is join good groups on the site related to the writing that I do, including (copywriting, poetry, and fiction). Reading from the writers in these groups inspires me and gives me something of a guideline, a preview of what might happen along this creative road. And now I’m here, trying my hand at this fiction writing thing that won’t let go of me.
