Day 26: Life too Fast

Up early
working through tasks
front end, background
one after another,
worrying about
next connections
or lack of
before lunch on the fly;
   —forgot I swallowed.

Rush through afternoon
cranking out lines,
verses, stories,
missing meeting beating
self-inflicted deadlines;
   —no time to regret relax savor it.

Finally, dinner time,
last written words before
nodded before
after-dinner salad.
Five a.m.
Time to start again.

I don’t remember
my head
touching down
on the pillow last night.
