Her first formal birthday party
was to celebrate turning four years old.
In proper purple and pink princess fashion
her daddy and mommy
transformed the dining area into
the royal banquet room.
Wisps of pink and purple wafted on air
above the festive table covered with
the royal meal of fruit and finger sandwiches,
and decorated with the loveliest pink tulips.
Pink and purple and other colors too
on plates, princess cups, and forks and spoons.
The meal was followed by
the perfect princess cake and ice cream
that threatened to undo their royal faces.
Chairs were all of royal merit.
But the throne for
the princess of the day
wrapped in enchanted pink satin
pink flowers and “Happy Birthday” balloons
brought magical smiles to the occupant
that spread throughout to her royal guests
and their mommies too.
All the girls were smiling,
happy to be together in their royal garb,
while mothers and we beamed over
these precious princess daughters.
All that could be heard ‘round the house
was how cute was everyone,
and their dresses how divine.
A lot of that came from me as well,
as I took pictures,
enjoyed the guests and their girls,
and was generally delighted with
my lovely princess niece
on her royal fourth birthday.
