Caution Failed

A Tanka Poem

No one’s home TV time cold soda snacks
we were getting away with something
leaving early in the night to not push our luck caution failed
nosy neighbor needed us to see him see us even in the dark
our pallor hidden, we played it off feigning a cheery “Good night!”

Thanks Pamela. I'm glad you like it. I wasn't sure I was hitting the mark with it. But, the memory made me laugh.

    Hi Alan:

    Isn't it always the neighbors?

Thanks for visiting and sharing your response. I'm glad you liked it. I saw somewhere you put up a link for writing tankas, http://tankaonline.com/. I'll have to check it out since I've never written one before.

    Always a pleasure,
    Shari

    Hi Shari,

You deftly handled the prompt, as the characters did the neighbors.
