Cocoa raindrops and dollops of whipped cream
fell from the skies in celebration of my birthday.
Should I have called someone to report what I saw?
I decided no.
Instead
I stood outside with a mug in each hand,
catching my celebration treats.
More birds than usual perched in trees
and excitedly chirped my happy birthday song.
Should I have captured the notes for others to hear?
I decided not to.
There’s a reason the music played loudly
with no one to hear it but me.
So
I accepted it all and just enjoyed my day.
